Error codePF
ApplianceRefrigerator
Reading PF
Electrical power to the refrigerator went off and came back. Older monitor models name this a power source malfunction, yet GE’s guide is explicit that it is no mechanical fault.
Guide 49-6896 in detail
When PF flashes, the supply was cut for longer than 2 seconds. Afterwards the freezer and refrigerator compartments should both be checked. Pressing the reset key puts out the PF light, and the system moves on to testing for other malfunctions.
Dispenser panel codes
GE says that cutting power to the refrigerator for a minute or two can reset the dispenser control panel and clear a code. In some cases service is still required.
Related codes
FF is worth a read when stored frozen food could be thawing.
CC applies when the refrigerator temperature is incorrect.
GE refrigerator service in San Francisco
When PF keeps coming back and no power cause is clear, see our refrigerator repair page for GE refrigerators in San Francisco and the Bay Area. Call (415) 729-2045 and have the model number plus a list of what you already tried.
Model compatibility: GE reuses codes across series and model years, so PF may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
