What PF indicates
PF is the dishwasher’s way of saying electricity to it was cut off. Per GE’s code list, select the cycle plus any options, then press the Start pad, and normal operation resumes.
PF RESET on older models
Models in the GSD4410, 4420, 4430, 4910, 4920, 4930 and 4940 series are described in owner’s manual 49-5790, where the display reads PF RESET: the supply was interrupted and is now restored. If a cycle was underway when it happened, do these two things first:
- Hit the RESET pad and give it roughly 30 seconds.
- Release the latch and open the door.
What comes next depends on the detergent cup. An open, empty cup with NORMAL, POTS PANS or CHINA CRYSTAL selected calls for closing the door and running a RINSE HOLD cycle; when RINSE HOLD ends, put in detergent and choose the wash cycle you want. A closed cup with one of those three cycles selected only needs a reset for the wash cycle you want. With RINSE HOLD selected, reset for RINSE HOLD. A dishwasher that sat unused through the outage can simply be used as usual.

PrS relates to the pressure sensor, and FTD relates to draining. Following an outage, C4 may also show if the machine filled twice.
Dishwasher service in San Francisco
If PF or another code comes back, call (415) 729-2045 about GE dishwasher service in San Francisco and the Bay Area, and keep the model number handy.
Model compatibility: GE reuses codes across series and model years, so PF may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
